Drafter/Designer

Job Summary

Spoint1 is looking for a drafter to work with our team of engineers to convert designs into technical plans.

Essential Functions

• Drafter responsibilities include gathering drawings and specifications to produce final designs
• Create detailed technical drawings and schematics using computer-aided design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, Revit, and Bluebeam
• Ability to interpret architectural or structural construction plans
• Familiar with local codes or jurisdiction requirements such as IRC
• Collaborate with engineering team to gather product and structural requirements and designs
• Calculate dimensions, weight limitation and requirements in materials
  
• Create detailed designs with CAD software
• Prepare rough sketches and review them along with the engineering team

Required Competencies

• Strong understanding of design principles and practices
• Previous experience in construction, architecture, and or structural design
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to produce accurate technical drawings
• Excellent mathematical skills
• Ability to meet deadlines is a must
• Time management skills
• Proven ability to manage multiple projects concurrently
• Knowledge of necessary regulations

Technology Competencies

• 3-5 yrs. hands-on experience using CAD software
• Experience with Revit is a plus but not required
• Familiar with Bluebeam

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY

This position does not have supervisory responsibility.

WORK ENVIRONMENT

While performing the duties of a design job, employees will be in an office environment,
which means sitting at a desk for extended periods of time. This is not a physically
demanding job.

POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK

This is a full-time position. Employees are expected to work a minimum of 8 hours a day
Monday – Friday, generally available from 8am-5pm with pre-determined adjustments.
Overtime is available. Schedule can be adjusted with approval from the Principal
Engineer.

REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

This position requires the skills generally learned through achieving an engineering or
technical degree; however, it is not required so long as the necessary knowledge, skills,
and abilities are demonstrated. Construction industry or architectural drafting
experience is also considered.
